Koalas are a national icon and recognised around the world as a vital part of Australia's environmental and cultural landscape. But actions of this Government have placed this beloved animal at risk, primarily through continued logging of native forests and urban expansion.
In the last 20 years, koala populations have halved on NSW's North Coast. Establishing a Great Koala National Park near Coffs Harbour will help ensure the survival of one of NSW's most important koala populations.
The Greens stand for:
- Establishing a Great Koala National Park on the NSW Mid-North Coast
- Ending native vegetation clearing and logging
- Protecting koalas from logging and habitat destruction
